The Daintree in Australia is the oldest rainforest in the world, whose 180 million years of existence has seen the comings and goings of dinosaurs, ice ages and early humans. It’s a haven for birds, butterflies and bats, and all manner of mosses and ferns — up to 3,000 plant species in all. Daintree Rain Tea pays gentle tribute to this vast nature reserve with a soft and clean blend of balsamic buddha wood, grassy apple-tinged chamomile, and ethereal blue lotus root. Its name gives the clue. Orange tree in Spanish Arabic. There you are, standing on a Moroccan roof. An exquisite coolness wafts up, chasing the clinging heat of the day. The curtains move lazily in the breeze. Shadows of orange trees stretch in the setting sun.

Lacura, the name of this perfume extrait sounds a bit like Latin or some magic language for "protection or cure".

It’s an uplifting nectarous woody citrus formula that has the complete set of wonderful perfume materials from the bitter orange tree: bigarade oil from the fruit, neroli and orange blossom absolute from the bloom and the fresh woody petigrain from leaves and twigs. That citrus and fresh woody plenty is layered with voluminous modern musks (velvety Velutone), gleaming vanilla, caramel and benzoin.

A green citrus perfume in which the delicious juicy aroma of ripe mandarins is mixed with the dry greenness of petitgrain, soft musky geranium, and crisp cedarwood.

As always, Perris go for the best materials they can source from around the world. Mandarins in this perfume come from southern Italy, with nuances supplied by green and yellow mandarins harvested in different seasons.

The green fruit extract has a delicate fleeting aroma, which rolls into a more confident sweet blend of ripe mandarins. The amber note in the base merges the two into a happy zesty perfume.

In this perfume story, the smoky gaiac aroma is gliding across a fresh and boundless ozonic void.

The story is open to interpretation: you can smell the waterproof canvas of the parachute gear in the abstract clean woodiness of the formula; or the air from under the tarpaulin you pull off a glider in its hangar; or think of any scenario involving flying machinery and an unlimited supply of fresh air.

The perfumer wanted to achieve a hazy floating shadow of an aroma, evoking a sensation of endless dark blue space, the calm humming of an engine, and hints of gasoline or machine oil. A worthy heir to the grandpa of all hazy smoky formulas inspired by airplane wings: Guerlain’s Vol de Nuit.
