Lisa Howarth, founder and perfumer of Ortir Apothecari, works closely with the landscape of her West Wales farm, growing and distilling botanicals for her fragrances. In DÔL, she reinterprets the traditional fougère through lavender, hay and earthy vetiver, connecting a familiar aromatic structure to the textures of Welsh meadows.

Ortir Apothecari’s story

Ortir Apothecari creates landscape-driven fragrances conceived as love letters to Wales. Its name draws on Welsh words meaning “of the land,” and its hands-on practice encompasses foraging, growing, harvesting and distilling botanicals. The house’s idea of purposeful luxury rests on a tangible relationship between perfume, place and slower production.

Dol’s concept

Part of Ortir Apothecari’s debut collection, DÔL was conceived as a meadow-inspired homage to the traditional fougère. Bright citrus gives way to lavender and hay before settling into earthy vetiver: a progression intended to evoke wandering through Welsh fields rather than a conventional barbershop setting.
