Dark and magnetic, Suavis Corium (Latin for “soft leather”) is a scent built on tension — beauty vs danger, control vs chaos. The opening is provocative: vintage medicine…olives…WD-40. The illusion is created by a clash of black pepper and red berries, leavened with juicy pear smoky Siberian birch. As it unfolds, wild honeysuckle and lily of the valley bloom over dry hay and red thyme, evoking sun-scorched fields and untamed energy. An interpretation of the winter solstice brightening into spring, the whisper of growth beneath the melting snow. The cold twang of grapefruit sparks against the heat of Szechuan pepper, while geranium’s complex rosy-minty profile deepens the rawness of hemp, vetiver and leather. 

This EdT plays it dark but bright. A spiky black pepper opening commands attention, before being volumised by an ebony chorus of black tea, birch tar and incense. Tree moss and violet lend a perfumed earthiness.

Nebula Viridis is Latin for “fresh mist”, and this extrait billows with hazy radiance. A luminous opening of Sicilian lemon and Calabrian bergamot cuts through the air like sunlight, sharpened by saffron and the rich depth of labdanum. The effect is crisp, golden. Warm woods glow in the heart, including guaiacwood, patchouli and Caledonian sandalwood, before vanillic benzoin and amber assert their sensuality.

Narcotic tuberose, a favourite of Marie Antoinette, amped to heady heights here by ylang-ylang with added saffron intrigue. This voluptuous floral is bold but not shrill, thanks to the grounding of suede, papyrus, patchouli and cashmere wood.

Under the luminous moon, smouldering embers glow with the mystery of ancient night rituals. This is a ceremony of smoke upon smoke upon smoke: birch tar, black tea, leather, frankincense. The austerity is softened by notes of amber and labdanum, deepening the mystery of the enveloping darkness.

Ombre Indigo in an incense perfume with many layers. There is the sharp dry opening of petitgrain, soft sweet tuberose next and leathery saffron in the drydown.

The name S24 refers to the double S in the Maysson brand logo, paired with 24 to signify the very first perfume the house released in 2024. The third volume in the Revenants series takes inspiration from the works of architect Nicolas Hawksmoor (1661-1736) whose foreboding structures define London's urban landscape even today.

Hawksmoor - referred to as ‘the Devil’s architect’ - continues to provoke interest for his distinctive churches, which introduced elements of Egyptology into traditional ecclesiastical settings. These curious architectural details, and his recent reputation as a Freemason has prompted speculation that occult symbolism influenced his methods, and imbued his designs with an inherent ‘terror and magnificence’.

By contrasting darkness with invigorating complexity, perfumer Pia Long has combined a vivid olfactory impression of the man, his works and his myth. Accords of Somalian Incense, dry woods and wet stone meld with opium smoke, papyrus and kyphi, underpinned by a base of Haitian vetiver and precious resins.
