Pierre Guillaume revisits chypre a classical perfume formula by boldly redrawing its outlines to offer a modern, hybrid composition.

Though the scent is built around classic chypre ingredients: patchouli, vetiver, labdanum, vanilla and oak moss the fruity aromatic twist adds an offbeat, playful touch.

Lime, fresh mint, strawberry aldehydes and rum absolute make up an explosive, exhilarating mojito accord that conjures the atmosphere of beach parties and summer celebrations.

 As the perfume quietens down, the chypre structure asserts itself with warm woods and sensual moss.

The 6th talisman (besides Le Mat, Sogno Reale, Osang, Sirio and Nettuno) in the form of a perfume formula.

It's a story of a rose bush coming back to life after the gardener planted some mint around it. The aromas of both plants are mixing in a happy harmony both in the story and in the formula. Talento is a fresh, iridescent rose as well as a talisman potion about the healing power of companionship.

Perfumer: Kévin Mathys

In this perfume story, the smoky gaiac aroma is gliding across a fresh and boundless ozonic void.

The story is open to interpretation: you can smell the waterproof canvas of the parachute gear in the abstract clean woodiness of the formula; or the air from under the tarpaulin you pull off a glider in its hangar; or think of any scenario involving flying machinery and an unlimited supply of fresh air.

The perfumer wanted to achieve a hazy floating shadow of an aroma, evoking a sensation of endless dark blue space, the calm humming of an engine, and hints of gasoline or machine oil. A worthy heir to the grandpa of all hazy smoky formulas inspired by airplane wings: Guerlain’s Vol de Nuit.

Le Réveil (the awakening) is an olfactory hallucination involving an Alpine mountain goat making a mess in a vat of strawberries and cream. Proving there’s no such thing as too much “too much”, this extrait pumps up the strawberry with waxy white chocolate and wine dregs, while amping ibex realness with oud, goat hair and animal notes. Remember, someone’s yuck can always be your yum.

A smell-good-like-you-feel-good perfume, reminiscent of carefree hangouts with friends powered by “herbal inhalants”. Mainstream is a beautifully modulated cannabis fragrance, its grapefruit and lime kick-off nicely balanced by the long guaiac wood, patchouli and vetiver fadeout. 

A shot of fruity mezcal collides with precious cacao absolute for a fragrance that’s fiery and intoxicating. Mezcal Chocolate is shaped by Mathis Molinié, digital tastemaker and head chef at Restaurant Philippe in Rouen. It opens with sparkling lime oil and chili pepper, deepened by olibanum from Somalia and an ultra-rare Rhum extract. The cacao’s creaminess melts into a bed of woods: Virginia cedarwood and cypriol oil from India, adding a dark, earthy glow.

Irisation or cloud iridescence is a colorful optical phenomenon that occurs in clouds lit by sun or moon disks behind. The pattern resembles a chaotic dance of a rainbow on a soap bubble.

This seems to be the logic of the perfume formula: iridescent jasmine with swirls of red strawberry, ochre praline, ambery vanilla, green bergamot, cool iononic rose and violet blackcurrant 

After the first rains of autumn, the woods exhale salubrious scents of peat, moss and petrichor — the ideal antidote to the scorching summer heat. Chypre-Mousse was first launched in 1914 for the dandies of the new century, and this iteration reinterprets a classic fougere with contemporary materials.
