This is a fantasy interpretation of the long-lost scent of the musk monkeyflower, beloved in Victorian England for its delicate yellow petals and rich musk smell. That is, until the turn of the twentieth century, when the flower suddenly lost its odour. This biological mystery continues to stump botanists and windowbox gardeners alike. So until the monkeyflower rediscovers its mojo, Stora Skuggan has created an imaginary version, a sunny meadow of flowers and herbs. Gently fruity chamomile and fig swirl through a landscape of comforting hay and musk. A sunscreen accord suggests bare skin warming in the late afternoon heat. Mellow and uplifting.

Ойся, ты ойся,
Ты меня не бойся,
Я тебя не трону,
Ты не беспокойся.
fom a Cossack folk song

***

An intense, smoky herbal blend that, like all of Anna's creations, will transport you to an imaginary landscape.

It's inspired by Cossacks, the soldier-farmers who live in the steppes in the south of Russia, accomplished horsemen guarding the borders since the days of Catherine the Great.

You are welcome to devise your own story, but here at Bloom, we imagine a young Cossack resting among haystacks and wild herbs, smoking his clay pipe while contemplating the starry sky. His friends are sitting by the open fire nearby. Smoke is wafting through wild thyme and wormwood.

Important notice:

Anna Zworykina’s blends are olfactive smellscapes (but neither aromatherapy, nor ‘spray-and-go’ perfumes). Her blends are sensory experiences, closer to works of art created in the scented plane (rather than, say, visual or audio).

Certain essential oils and absolutes that are used in her 100% natural perfumes may potentially cause allergies in some people. Please spray Anna Zworykina’s blends on fabric (on sleeves, scarves, etc.). This said, Anna Zworykina has acquired a huge fan base over many years and people interacted with her blends for quite a while now. We are not aware of any reports of any skin reactions so far.

However, Anna advises that those who are prone to allergic reactions, pregnant and nursing women, as well as people with chronic illnesses to be extra careful. Before trying natural blends, study the list of ingredients and consult with a doctor if you are not sure or a had a history of allergies. If you do decide to put these blends on your skin (unable to resist the temptation) always test the blend on the inside part of your elbow first and wait.

Do not spray these blends liberally as a cloud in the way you would spray a conventional perfume. Anna’s smellscapes need to be… carefully applied and experienced. Be mindful that some oils can also make your skin hyper-sensitive to UV.

After the first rains of autumn, the woods exhale salubrious scents of peat, moss and petrichor — the ideal antidote to the scorching summer heat. Chypre-Mousse was first launched in 1914 for the dandies of the new century, and this iteration reinterprets a classic fougere with contemporary materials. This explosively aromatic blend hums with wild mint and fennel in a swirl of earthy oak moss, peppery green angelica and fresh pine. Bring the outdoors in with Chypre-Mousse.

In the branches of a sprawling thorn tree, a boisterous flock of lovebirds gathers, undeterred by the African savanna’s scorching heat. Cheerful chatter fills the air as they flit and weave, playfully hopping from one partner to another. Amid the lively commotion, one pair slips away to a quiet perch. Snuggling head to head, they preen one another, their affectionate chirps muffled against velvety soft feathers. The setting sun captures the intimate encounter, washing the glorious hues of the lovebirds’ intertwined plumage with a golden glow.

Zoologist Lovebird bottles the thrill of budding romance in a single spritz. It opens with a playful burst of kiwi, orange, and passionfruit, as sweet and fleeting as a first kiss. A captivating blend of ylang-ylang, lavender, lily of the valley, and heliotrope weaves an intimate connection, drawing you deeper. The Daintree in Australia is the oldest rainforest in the world, whose 180 million years of existence has seen the comings and goings of dinosaurs, ice ages and early humans. It’s a haven for birds, butterflies and bats, and all manner of mosses and ferns — up to 3,000 plant species in all. Daintree Rain Tea pays gentle tribute to this vast nature reserve with a soft and clean blend of balsamic buddha wood, grassy apple-tinged chamomile, and ethereal blue lotus root. An accord of rain-dappled leaves and damp earth lifts up the pleasing rubber nuance supplied by black tea. A haven of a fragrance.

About The Smell of Weather Turning by Lush

What does Lush The Smell of Weather Turning smell like?
It smells like an English meadow around a thunderstorm: crisp, green and electrically fresh, yet warm, sweet and smoky beneath. The overall mood balances wet countryside air with sun-warmed grass and an earthy woodland quality.
Is Chypre-Mousse similar to Lush The Smell of Weather Turning?
Yes. Chypre-Mousse shares mint and oakmoss with the Lush perfume, giving it comparable green freshness and earthy depth. Angelica root, fennel, petrichor, pine and vetiver make Chypre-Mousse sharper, more resinous and distinctly forest-like.
Is Daintree Rain Tea similar to Lush The Smell of Weather Turning?
Yes. Daintree Rain Tea shares chamomile and a rain-washed atmosphere, but black tea, blue lotus root, petrichor, sea salt and a raindrop accord create a crisper, more aquatic character with less woody warmth.
How does Dol compare with Lush The Smell of Weather Turning?
Dol carries a related dry, grassy quality through hay, then adds lavender, geranium, petrichor and vetiver. Its fougère character feels cleaner and more classically aromatic, with less of the Lush perfume’s sweet, smoky warmth.
