All about this fragrance

Vibe check

An unhurried lunch outdoors, with conversation continuing as the afternoon warms and crushed herbs scent the air. Grapefruit gives 701 a bright, sociable opening; eucalyptus and pepper keep its presence crisp, while incense adds a quieter, contemplative edge.

How to wear

Its transparent citrus-and-herbal profile makes spring and summer natural settings. Start with two light sprays on the neck and forearms, allowing the aromatic notes room to diffuse rather than concentrating them in one spot. In warmer weather, apply lightly to preserve the balance between grapefruit brightness and resinous depth.

Who it’s for

For those drawn to aromatic greens, tart citrus and cool spices rather than sweet fruit or dense amber. Its appeal lies in the contrast between sunny grapefruit, bracing eucalyptus and the drier character of pepper, cypress and incense.

2016–2017

The nose

Benoist Lapouza is a French perfumer whose work ranges from aromatic freshness to richly textured woods and gourmand accords, including Kilian’s Angels’ Share. For 701, he translated the idea of a warm breeze crossing a summer lunch table into a transparent blend of citrus, herbs, spices and resinous woods.

Collaborators

Founder Ludovic Bonneton supplied the creative inspiration: a summer lunch at La Chassagnette in Camargue, where conversation, surrounding nature and scent became the starting point for Lapouza’s composition.

Bon Parfumeur’s story

Bon Parfumeur treats fragrance as an expression of memories and emotions, pairing French perfumery traditions with a contemporary, accessible approach. Numbered scents and highlighted ingredients make the collection easier to navigate, while unisex compositions and optional layering invite personal interpretation.

701 Eau de Cyprès’s concept

701 was inspired by a summer lunch at La Chassagnette in Camargue. Rather than recreate the meal itself, the composition evokes the warm breeze passing over the table, carrying the aromatic character of the surrounding garden through citrus, eucalyptus, rosemary and cypress.

Extra info

The title Eau de Cyprès means “cypress water,” while 701 retains the house’s numerical naming system. Regional official copy also describes a hidden cannabis note—an olfactory suggestion, not evidence that the perfume contains cannabis or cannabinoids.
