50/“Ting”, alchemic athanor or cauldron – a symbol of change within, the man being the crucible in which new energies come about from various ingredients transforming and merging.
Mendittorosa in their unique alchemic way try to explore the metaphysics of the universe through perfume formulas.
Athanor is a rich incense perfume with an unusual sulfur streak.
There is a tiny gold plated bronze nugget in the bottle and the cap is a miniature of two atlas-like figures holding the athanor of change.

Luca Maffei is an Italian perfumer and co-founder of Atelier Fragranze Milano, known for technically precise compositions with distinctive textures. His work includes the airy, champagne-like iris of Masque Milano’s L’Attesa. For Athanor, he developed a contrasting language of sulphur, saffron, incense and dark woods, completing the formula through a two-year collaboration with Stefania Squeglia.
Collaborators
Stefania Squeglia conceived Athanor’s alchemical theme, selected Luca Maffei to interpret it and approved the finished formula after their two-year collaboration. Goldsmith and sculptor Nibo finalized the bronze cap, depicting two human figures working with a crucible and translating the fragrance’s transformation imagery into a sculptural object.
Mendittorosa’s story
Mendittorosa treats perfume as independent artistic creation, pairing expressive formulas with objects made in collaboration with Italian artisans. Its creative direction follows personal visions rather than market trends. The Talismans collection frames fragrance as an intimate object of reassurance and meaning, with the Extreme division giving that idea concentrated formulas and sculptural presentation.
