A fresh citrus perfume in which the bergamot aroma at the core is gently wrapped in soft, musky orange blossom and green neroli.
As always, Perris go for the best materials they can source from around the world. For Bergamotto Di Calabria they acquired special “sponge extraction” bergamot oil from Capua. In this region the traditional artisans still perform the extraction manually. Each fruit is sliced in half, the pulp removed, and the rind pressed on a natural sponge in a circular motion to collect the essence. The bergamot rind extract obtained with this method has the most delicate and complex aroma, with a hint of jasmine.
The blend also contains orange blossom absolute from the Italian Capua, Paraguaian petitgrain (the distillation of the twigs from the bitter orange tree), pepper from Timor Island, Moroccan neroli, and Haitian vetiver.
All about this scent
Vibe Check
This is the scent of a close, sunlit space where citrus peel, white flowers and clean woods mingle in the air. It feels composed rather than loud, with enough softness to stay intimate and enough green lift to keep it bright and alert.
When and where to wear suggestions
Best in mild to warm weather, when its citrus and neroli can open fully without being flattened by heat. Apply a moderate amount to skin and clothing; the bergamot reads crisp at first, then settles into a musky floral-woody trail that stays smooth rather than sharp.
Who It’s For
For wearers who like citrus with depth: bergamot that feels natural and slightly bitter, white florals that stay airy, and a dry vetiver-wood base. It will appeal to those who prefer refined, ingredient-focused fragrances over sparkling colognes or sweet citrus blends.

The Nose
Luca Maffei is known for polished, material-led compositions that balance clarity with texture. In Bergamotto di Calabria, he builds around a high-quality bergamot accord, letting the citrus feel more nuanced and lasting than a simple cologne-style opening. His work often favours naturalistic brightness, clean structure and a refined drydown, which suits Perris Monte Carlo’s emphasis on raw materials and craftsmanship. Here, that approach gives the fragrance its creamy citrus-floral depth and a more elegant woody finish.
Collaborators
Luca Maffei developed the fragrance with creative director Gian Luca Perris, who shaped the concept around exceptional bergamot and the house’s focus on premium natural materials. The result is a composition guided by ingredient quality and traditional extraction rather than decorative excess.
Perris Monte Carlo’s Story
Perris Monte Carlo is a craft-driven house built around sourcing, material quality and perfumery heritage. Its fragrances tend to foreground distinctive raw ingredients, then refine them into clear, modern compositions that feel rooted in tradition without sounding nostalgic.
Bergamotto di Calabria’s Concept
Bergamotto di Calabria belongs to the Italy Collection, a tribute to Southern Italy’s citrus landscape. The fragrance centres on Calabrian bergamot, including a traditional sponge-extraction oil from Capua, then layers neroli, orange blossom, jasmine and vetiver to extend the citrus into a softer, more textured form.
Extra Info
The bergamot oil is made using a traditional sponge extraction method in Capua, a labor-intensive technique that helps preserve its delicate, complex character. The fragrance is part of Perris Monte Carlo’s Italy Collection, which celebrates regional Italian ingredients.
