Lucas Sieuzac composed Dot. Known for fragrances including Amouage Reflection Man, he works across floral, woody and aromatic compositions, balancing clarity with a rounded, polished texture. Here, he places osmanthus within a leafy, resinous setting rather than treating it as an isolated floral note.

Collaborators

Christian Astuguevieille worked with Lucas Sieuzac as artistic director, shaping the translation of the osmanthus concept into fragrance. Rei Kawakubo supplied the creative brief: an osmanthus-based scent recalling the flowering trees found in Japanese parks and along roadsides in autumn.

Comme des Garçons treats perfume as another medium for its unconventional design language. Its fragrances explore unexpected materials, abstract ideas and familiar smells viewed from unfamiliar angles. Dot brings that approach to a botanical subject, connecting the house’s polka-dot imagery with blossoms, foliage and wood.

Dot’s concept

Dot links the house’s signature polka dots with the atmosphere around osmanthus trees flowering in Japan in autumn. The composition sketches the whole environment: fruity floral facets suggest the blossoms, green accords evoke the leaves, and white amber woods represent the bark, with olibanum and pepper adding resinous detail.

The name connects the fragrance to Comme des Garçons’ familiar polka-dot motif. Its opaque black, dotted bottle has an irregular silhouette likened to a melted light bulb—a graphic contrast to the soft osmanthus composition inside.
