The following are some reasons why perfumes can become unavailable:
Each year, the International Fragrance Association (IFRA) issues ever-stricter safety and allergen regulations. This affects quite a few classic formulas as well as niche compositions, and sometimes brands have to discontinue a perfume if they are unable to reformulate.
The brand decides to change the concentration. For example, an eau de parfum is reformulated as an extrait, effectively turning it into a different perfume.
The brand ceases operating. The creative director passed away, got bored, started a new project, sold the business, etc.
The brand cannot keep up with logistics and production demands, with disruptions for up to a year. If there is no regular production and availability schedule, it is not viable for a stockist to carry the brand.
The brand changed the distribution model, eg from niche to duty free.
The 2021 batch is blended according to the same recepie as the 2019 batch of FUM. However, the plant ingredients have matured in different weather, took a different amount of sun, etc. and this new batch is a beautiful new variation.
The concept
The camp is already mounted in a forest clearing. On the fire camp, what we have been gathering for hours is being destilled. Juniper berries and wood, pine resin, birch bark and moss. The gentle winter sun fades away and our clothes are impregnated with the resins and the smoke. In the morning, with the firsts lights, after making coffee in the embers, our hands give a bright contrast to the blend, keeping the fragrance of an orange that was pealed without a knife. This is it. FUM (smoke in Catalan) captures the simplicity of a mountain expedition in winter. It’s not a place, but a shared momento in the wild.
This is not a conventional perfume. It's a fragrant story you can sniff from the cuff of your jacket, from a blotter lying on your desk - or invent your own way to enter this space, leaving mundane and ordinary behind.
These Bravanariz 'olfactory digressions' are 100% natural and are made from herbs, woods and flowers collected in the Spanish Emporda natural park where the house is based. These blends are wild literally (made from wild flora) and also wild in terms of not complying with mass market regulations and fashion.
IMPORTANT NOTE:This is not “a perfume”. It is an Olfactory Digression, and is blended by Bravanariz to be a different olfactory and sensory experience compared to “perfumes”. It does not comply with the IFRA standards, and for that reason is not recommended for topical (direct application to skin) use. Please spray on fabric (scarf, sleeve, etc.) to experience.
