L´Eau des Immortels (Immortals' Brew)

All about this fragrance
Vibe check
As afternoon gives way to evening, its spicy immortelle and resinous amber suit an unhurried conversation at close quarters. Against a dark wool jacket, the powdery, faintly animalic warmth feels deliberately old-fashioned—rich in texture rather than polished to neutrality.
How to wear
Start with one or two sprays on skin beneath clothing, allowing the amber and benzoin to warm gradually. Cool autumn and winter weather is a natural setting for this resinous, powdery profile; in warmer conditions, use a lighter application to keep its sweet, spicy richness restrained.
Who it’s for
For those drawn to vintage-style ambers, textured resins and immortelle’s distinctive aromatic character. Its powdery, animalic edge and chocolate-like warmth will appeal more to lovers of richly shaded compositions than to those seeking sheer citrus or crisp, minimalist freshness.

The nose
Isabelle Doyen is known for compositions that balance vivid botanical detail with atmosphere and unexpected contrasts. Her longstanding work for Goutal includes Un Matin d’Orage and, with Camille Goutal, Nuit Étoilée. At Voyages Imaginaires, she explores an entirely natural palette as a creative constraint rather than a rejection of synthetic perfumery. For L’Eau des Immortels, Doyen translated literary and cinematic references into an immortelle-centered amber, bringing together resinous warmth, fragrant woods and chocolate-like nuances.
Collaborators
Camille Goutal, the house’s co-founder, provides the artistic direction and photography that frame Doyen’s fragrances within an imagined visual world. Her documented contribution is to that creative identity, rather than separately credited formula authorship for L’Eau des Immortels.
Voyages Imaginaires’s story
Voyages Imaginaires treats perfume as travel through memories, dreamed landscapes and inner worlds. Founded by Isabelle Doyen and Camille Goutal, the house works with entirely natural compositions in organic wheat alcohol, using the restricted palette to challenge familiar creative habits. Photography and refillable bottles extend that approach beyond the fragrance itself.
L´Eau des Immortels (Immortals' Brew)’s concept
The fragrance imagines a search through a divine garden for an amber-colored elixir of immortality, with immortelle at the center of its aromatic landscape. Doyen’s personal references include the dark, futuristic atmosphere of Enki Bilal’s La Foire aux immortels, alongside Wim Wenders’ Wings of Desire, Bruno Ganz and Nick Cave.
Extra info
Its chocolate-like facet is an olfactory effect, not an explicitly listed cocoa ingredient. The fragrance is offered in refillable 75 ml and 10 ml sprays, with a separate 100 ml refill. Doyen also presented it to the jury when receiving the Fragrance Foundation France’s Prix d’Honneur in 2023; the honor recognized the perfumer, not the fragrance.
