"It all starts with a hand on the nape of a neck. The hand of a man familiar with the practice of attracting young women, accustomed to crumpling their sleek hair and to getting the better of their well-behaved manners. This is the story of a man in a car at night, of a manly hand that draws a perfectly fresh face towards him - expressed at the start by a bouquet of white flowers: lily of the valley, jasmine and orange blossom–, and who anticipates the chocolaty taste and tenderness of a mouth. A fresh citrus perfume in which the bergamot aroma at the core is gently wrapped in soft, musky orange blossom and green neroli.

As always, Perris go for the best materials they can source from around the world. For Bergamotto Di Calabria they acquired special “sponge extraction” bergamot oil from Capua. In this region the traditional artisans still perform the extraction manually. Each fruit is sliced in half, the pulp removed, and the rind pressed on a natural sponge in a circular motion to collect the essence. The bergamot rind extract obtained with this method has the most delicate and complex aroma, with a hint of jasmine.

The blend also contains orange blossom absolute from the Italian Capua, Paraguaian petitgrain (the distillation of the twigs from the bitter orange tree), pepper from Timor Island, Moroccan neroli, and Haitian vetiver.

Leon is a light (10% concentration) carefree blend of Mediterranean citruses in the soft embrace of sandalwood.

At first spritz the perfume explodes with bursts of sweet cedrat and delicious bergamot, then it calms down somewhat into green neroli and fresh honeysuckle accord with soft sandalwood in the background.

Marie Jeanne is an atelier perfume house from Grasse, founded by a young perfumer from a family connected to Robertet for several generations.

Robertet is a bit like De Beers of the fine natural perfume materials - matières premières, for decades they have been dealing with the finest, purest and most precious stuff a perfumer can dream of.

In Leon’s formula you admire the exceptional quality and fineness of sandalwood from India, neroli from Tunisia, bergamot and cedrat from Italy among other exquisite materials.

Matilde Bonaparte, niece of Napoleon I, was known for her breasts (“le plus beau décolleté”) and her talent as a painter. She also hosted a celebrated 19th-century Parisian salon attended by the greatest artists and writers of her time. This namesake perfume is an olfactory salon of provocative white florals (ylang-ylang, narcissus, jasmine) given tropical succulence with passion fruit and papaya. Mathilde’s heady brightness is softened by iris and sandalwood.

The closer you get, the finer it feels. Orris and honeysuckle mingle in a powdery hush, beckoning the nose towards downy white musk and sandalwood. Vanilla and humid mangrove wood leave a lasting warmth. Projection stays soft, humming quietly — a fine-gauge knit that rests gently on skin. Cashmere is less a perfume than a feeling: a quiet murmur, a soft breath in the warm night.
