All about this fragrance

Vibe check

Aer suits the quiet interval after a bracing walk, when conversation resumes indoors but the sensation of open air remains. Peppermint and orange keep the mood alert; dry cedar and woodland litter bring a more grounded presence as the initial coolness settles.

How to wear

A natural choice for mild spring days and early autumn, when the cool aromatics and dry woods can sit in balance. Start with one or two sprays on skin: the crisp opening gives way to a softer, wood-smoky impression. In warmer weather, keep application light to emphasise its airy character.

Who it’s for

For those drawn to aromatic woods, mint-led freshness and the earthy texture of a forest floor. Aer will appeal to tastes that favour a crisp opening with a dry, gently smoky finish rather than sweetness or dense richness.

The nose

Lisa Howarth is Ortir Apothecari’s founder and perfumer. Her practice grew from an arts background into hands-on botanical work on a Welsh farm, encompassing cultivation, foraging and distillation. In Aer, she translates observations of weather moving across a bay into a progression from cool aromatics to smoky cedar and woodland textures.

Ortir Apothecari’s story

Ortir Apothecari makes fragrances as love letters to Wales, grounding its identity in landscape and hands-on botanical craft. Foraging, growing, harvesting and distilling inform the house’s approach, while development follows the needs of the materials and formulation rather than a fixed launch calendar.

Aer’s concept

Aer grew from Howarth’s daily walks watching the weather move across a Welsh bay. Its composition follows the passage from bracing coastal air into the shelter of ancient woods, where smoky cedar and forest-floor impressions give the opening’s airy coolness an earthy footing.

Extra info

Aer means “air” and is pronounced “air-r.” Its woodland-litter note makes the forest floor an explicit part of the composition, alongside peppermint, lavender, orange, rose and Atlas cedar. The eau de parfum is offered in 10 ml and 50 ml sizes.
