The following are some reasons why perfumes can become unavailable:

  1. Each year, the International Fragrance Association (IFRA) issues ever-stricter safety and allergen regulations. This affects quite a few classic formulas as well as niche compositions, and sometimes brands have to discontinue a perfume if they are unable to reformulate.
  2. The brand decides to change the concentration. For example, an eau de parfum is reformulated as an extrait, effectively turning it into a different perfume.
  3. The brand ceases operating. The creative director passed away, got bored, started a new project, sold the business, etc.
  4. The brand cannot keep up with logistics and production demands, with disruptions for up to a year. If there is no regular production and availability schedule, it is not viable for a stockist to carry the brand.
  5. The brand changed the distribution model, eg from niche to duty free.

The green and intoxicating notes of the Chiribasa Valley, lost among the peaks of the Himalayas and near the sources of the Ganges, blend in the air to create a spontaneous, spicy incense. This is the inspiration for Atmayatra, a name composed of two Sanskrit terms Atma (soul) and Yatra (pilgrimage), which seeks to evoke a pilgrimage of the soul. The sumptuous green notes of holy basil tulsi and cannabis, plants that grow freely in the landscape of northern India, mix with the muddy smell of the Ganges River. The result is sun-baked aromatics washed by Himalayan storms, not “comfortable” or simple, but always memorable.

The Illuminata Collection is distinguished by their bottles’ photoluminescent caps. Light absorbed during the day glows in the dark of night, representing the occult mystery conjured by the fragrance.

All about this fragrance

Vibe check

This is a fragrance for close, attentive spaces rather than easy background wear: a dim room, a quiet conversation, the kind of presence that feels grounded and slightly enigmatic. Its green smoke and earthy depth create an aura that is intimate, spiritual and a little untamed.

How to wear

Best in cool weather or at night, where its incense, earth and woods can unfold without feeling heavy. Apply sparingly at first: as an extrait, it has strong presence and long wear, with a green opening that settles into smoky, resinous warmth and a soft powdery trail.

Who it’s for

For wearers who like green incense, earthy woods and unusual aromatic compositions with a spiritual edge. It suits those drawn to textured, contemplative scents that feel natural, smoky and a little mysterious rather than polished or conventionally clean.

The nose

Daniele Muratori Caputo is the founder and perfumer behind Spiritica, a niche house built around scent as spiritual narrative. His work for the brand leans into dense contrasts: ritual smoke, vegetal greenness, earth, and a deliberately uncanny sense of place. Atmayatra fits that language closely. It channels his interest in olfaction as pilgrimage and in fragrance as a way to map sacred landscapes, turning the Himalayas and the Ganges into a composition that feels both meditative and unsettling.

Collaborators

Daniele Muratori Caputo shaped the fragrance as both founder and perfumer, translating Spiritica’s concept of spiritual geography into the composition and the overall creative direction.

Spiritica’s story

Spiritica is a Milan-based niche house that treats perfume as a form of spiritual storytelling. Its identity is built on darkness, mysticism, transgressive art, and high-concentration extrait compositions, presented with distinctive luminescent packaging and a strong sense of place.

Atmayatra’s concept

Atmayatra takes its name from two Sanskrit words, Atma and Yatra, suggesting a pilgrimage of the soul. The fragrance is inspired by the Chiribasa Valley in the Himalayas, near the source of the Ganges, and aims to capture the green, storm-washed atmosphere of that landscape through basil, incense, cannabis, wet earth and woods.

Extra info

Atmayatra is part of Spiritica’s Illuminata Collection, whose bottles feature photoluminescent caps that glow in the dark after absorbing light during the day. The name combines the Sanskrit words for soul and pilgrimage, reinforcing the fragrance’s idea of an inner journey.
