This perfume is a new interpretation by perfumer Celine Barel. The original version, designed by Juan Perez, is discontinued and no longer available.

Céline Barel composed this new interpretation of Dragonfly. Her work for Zoologist also includes Squid, another exploration of an aquatic environment. Here, she approaches water through luminous florals, green vegetation and soft powdery textures, translating a pond landscape into an impressionistic composition.
Zoologist’s story
Zoologist builds fragrances around animals, their habitats and behaviours, favouring distinctive compositions over literal imitation. Founded by Victor Wong in Toronto, the house embraces beauty, playfulness and occasional provocation, while replacing animal-derived musks with synthetic alternatives for ethical reasons.
Dragonfly (2021)’s concept
Dragonfly’s 2021 edition is Céline Barel’s new interpretation of the discontinued original by Juan M. Perez. Its inspiration is an impressionistic waterside landscape: lotus flowers rising from a green pond, dragonflies emerging into sunlight and rice terraces awaiting a summer shower. Aquatic florals, rice, iris and mimosa give that scene its soft, rain-veiled texture.
Extra info
The official deluxe bottle contains 60 mL at a stated concentration of 20%. Rainwater appears in the note pyramid alongside moss, vetiver and Cashmeran, extending the pond imagery beyond the floral heart.
