Perfumer: Luca Maffei
The rarest of roses in perfumery: rose from the Taif area in Saudi Arabia. These flowers have their own unique aroma and most of the harvest stays in the country. Very few perfume houses ever get their hands on rose de Taif.
Perris did manage to secure the precious essence for their perfume and it was really worth making rose de Taif the main theme of the formula. Only a few other ingredients are used and used only to highlight the beauty of this rare perfume material.
The EdP option smells less metallic and more happy rose petals warmed by the sun (thank you lemon). Rose de Taif in the extrait concentration is more metallic leathery and heavier on geranium.
All about this fragrance
Vibe check
This is a scent for close range and confident presence, the kind of rose that reads as polished but not polite. It suits an evening room where the air is warm and the conversation is slow, leaving a dark floral trail with a faint leathery bite.
How to wear
Best worn in cooler weather or after dark, when its extrait richness can unfold without feeling heavy. One or two sprays are enough: on skin it turns dense and velvety, while in the air it projects a metallic rose with geranium lift and a lingering leathery finish.
Who it’s for
For wearers who like roses with structure, depth and a slightly animalic edge rather than soft prettiness. It will appeal to those drawn to floral-leather compositions, concentrated extraits and fragrances that feel luxurious, assertive and a little untamed.

The nose
Luca Maffei is an Italian perfumer known for polished, modern compositions that balance clarity with character. His work often leans on clean structure, precise materials and a contemporary sense of contrast, which suits a fragrance like Rose de Taif Extrait, where a rare rose is framed rather than obscured. In this perfume, Maffei lets the Taif rose remain the focus while using supporting notes sparingly to amplify texture: geranium for lift and bite, and a leathery, metallic depth that gives the extrait its darker, more concentrated profile. The result is a rose composition with tension and presence rather than softness alone.
Collaborators
Gian Luca Perris shaped the creative vision behind the Gold Collection, steering the brand’s focus toward rare raw materials and a more elemental, ingredient-led style. His role here was to frame Taif rose as the central material and keep the formula deliberately spare so the flower could dominate.
Perris Monte Carlo’s story
Perris Monte Carlo builds its identity around craftsmanship, natural ingredients and a return to classic perfumery values without nostalgia or excess. The house favors concise formulas, high-quality materials and a cosmopolitan outlook, often drawing inspiration from regional traditions and exceptional raw materials.
Rose de Taif Extrait’s concept
Rose de Taif Extrait was created around one of perfumery’s most elusive roses, sourced from the Taif region of Saudi Arabia, where much of the harvest remains local. The extrait version was designed to place that material at the center of the composition, with only a few supporting notes used to underline its metallic, leathery richness and deeper, more forceful character.
Extra info
Rose de Taif is built around Taif rose, a prized Saudi rose variety known for its distinctive aroma and limited availability. The extrait concentration emphasizes a heavier, more metallic-leathery profile than the Eau de Parfum, making it the darker and more forceful interpretation.
