A sultry heat wafts across the land, lapped up greedily by the abundant flora that thrives in its midst. Trees soar to majestic heights and plants flower for the first time, their petals spreading to give birth to a world rich in diversity. The Cretaceous period comes of age against a backdrop scorched by wildfire and lightning strikes. Over this turbulent landscape, a massive predator looms. Giants rule the earth, but even giants can be cut down within the powerful jaws of the fearsome tyrannosaur. Standing tall, the terrifying beast fears nothing, until that pivotal moment when a fire in the sky signals the end of their deadly reign.
Zoologist Tyrannosaurus Rex is a gargantuan scent that sinks its teeth into the world of delicate fragrances and rips it wide open. Primitive woods and florals seize you and snatch you away to an ancient era. Smoky, charred wood warns of the danger of smouldering fire, setting your senses on edge, while droplets of metallic rose oxide offer a chilling premonition of blood-lust. The mighty Tyrannosaurus Rex is sometimes menacing, sometimes fascinating, but never, ever ordinary.

All about this fragrance
Vibe check
Heavy boots at the threshold of a crowded music venue: the smoky woods and animalic leather suit a charged evening where softness would feel out of place. Beneath that abrasive surface, dense flowers lend an unexpected richness as people draw closer.
How to wear
Cool weather gives the dense smoke, resins and animalic warmth room to unfold; heat may make the composition feel more imposing. Start with one spray on the torso and assess before adding more. Applying beneath clothing can temper its outward presence while keeping the charred floral character close.
Who it’s for
For lovers of smoke, animalic leather and dense woody perfumes who welcome friction rather than polish. Its substantial floral heart makes it especially interesting to those who enjoy flowers in dark, resinous settings rather than delicate bouquets.

The nose
Antonio Gardoni is an Italian architect and perfumer, and the founder of Bogue Profumo. His compositions, including Maai and MEM, explore dense floral structures, animalic textures and unconventional contrasts. For Tyrannosaurus Rex, he translated an imagined prehistoric landscape into a collision of smoke, woods, flowers and metallic effects.
Collaborators
Zoologist founder Victor Wong developed the creative concept with Antonio Gardoni. His brief called for burning forests, immense vegetation and predation, with a substantial floral accord amid the chaos. He subsequently requested adjustments to make Gardoni’s composition more wearable.
Zoologist’s story
Zoologist interprets animals through their habitats, behavior and appearance rather than simply reproducing their smell. Founded in Toronto by Victor Wong, the house gives independent perfumers room to create unusual, playful and sometimes confrontational compositions, using synthetic alternatives to animal-derived musks.
T-Rex’s concept
The idea began with a joke at Esxence in Milan: Wong thought one of Gardoni’s vetiver-focused perfumes smelled primal enough to be called T-Rex. Gardoni pursued the suggestion, and together they developed an imagined prehistoric world of burning forests, enormous plants and predation. The result is an atmospheric fantasy, not a reconstruction of how the Cretaceous period smelled.
Extra info
Despite its civet and leather notes, Tyrannosaurus Rex contains no animal products; those effects are synthetic. Gardoni also drew on the five elements—metal, wood, water, fire and earth—as conceptual references for its metallic, muddy, smoky and earthy sensations.
