Chapter 2, ORLO is inspired by Edge, a poem by Sylvia Plath.

The perfume is behaving like magic fiery serpent breathing intoxicating incense fumes and sending sweet citrus zest sparks as it progresses through a fantastic fragrant dimension.

Perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour sought to recreate the smell of the inside of an ancient Catholic cathedral: “It’s a mix of something strongly incense-y together with a mineral-like note and wet flagstone, which adds something fresh and chilly.” Avignon is indeed chilly, but also radiant, with its aromatic halo of balsamic myrrh, lemony elemi and punchy patchouli.

Two years ago I received a trial fragrance by Luca Maffei which was characterized by an incense note I really like. We have been working on that note, finishing it and making it sensual until we arrived at the final project, that I completely love.”

The five major aromas that give Cognac its unique flavor are vanilla, prune, caramel, orange and apricot. Some can also detects floral and fruity notes in its bouquet, such as dried linden blossom, vine blossom, dry vine shoots and pressed grape with hints of violet and vanilla.
