10 perfumes in similar style to Room Service by Vilhelm Parfumerie

I was inspired while visiting Kew Gardens in London in May. Every May there are hundreds of blooming magnolia trees in different sorts, sizes, scents and colours. Usually it is a very rainy season and my inspiration was to create a scent of the water and rain on magnolia trees.  

The symbol of this modern perfume is an American modern dance pioneer Ruth St. Denis. She is not only a very talented performer, but also very feminine. 

Divine Dancer is an ethereal, watercoloured, light, fresh, feminine floral perfume. It is modern and vivacious fruity floral scent .

The Divine Dancer perfume is dedicated to one of the first American modern dance and ballet performers Ruth St. Denis.

Her vibrant and spirited art of dance, influenced by the East and South Asia, her divine body move and incredible costumes made Ruth St. Denis a worldwide well known star. Her body projects as Temple of femininity. 

When the dancer emerged from the darkness of the stage, her presence was immediately captivating, the air suddenly fragrant with her appearance. Adorned in jewels from head to toe, radiant in a special gold sari, her hair crowned in jasmine, she is an embodiment of divine feminine, mirroring the images of goddesses of Lakshmi and Saraswati but with the talented Ruth St. Denis touch of modern dance and ballet movement.

A beautiful floral abstraction, sheer delight for the olfactive imagination: is it a lilac, or spicy carnation or all the aromas of many humble meadow flowers mixed in the spring rain?

The shady cool and crisp orris (made very dry with cedar and tonka) offers a floral riddle which every nose solves in his or her own way.

A pretty, simple and quite sentimental perfume etude about picking dark delicious berries to make a preserve for cold winter evenings. Brocard even threw the cool autumn breeze into the picture with the help of a fresh mint accord.

A delectable perfume inspired by oriental blends infused with flowers and spices. Musky leathery osmanthus and magnolia are blended into the dark background of black tea. There is also a candied lemon spark which is refreshing and sweet at the same time.

This is fresh, pure water that can wash away the sins of the night. Clothing becomes merely ornamental, an insignificant wrapping paper that only serves to cloak the true erotic power of the flesh. This is a man who wants to play, to love, to ravish, and to be free of all inhibitions. Tom is sex.

Sileno or Silenus in Greek  (or faun in Roman) mythology would be a creature of the wild forest – part man part beast. Silenus would accompany and entertain Dionysus in his god’s routines and parties.

The perfume is a sensual but fresh ylang-ylang with a generous crisp spices layer.

Reminiscent of a time when royalty perfumed their hair with exquisite musks, the scent of  grey amber wafted in the air, and enchanted patios bloomed with florals and romance. Ambar del Sur is an aromatic tribute to the al-Andalus of the past.

Vanilla, tonka bean and grey amber is a hedonistic blend that lingers on the skin.

Moonlight was commissioned by Brocard to Bertrand Duchaufour. It is the brand’s first experiment with an approach to perfume making as conceptual art and luxury.

To understand this perfume you need to ponder on the nature of monlight and the fact that it is only sunlight reflected off the lifeless satellite.

The perfume feels even more tender, a bit like the Moon’s reflection in a pond. The formula is a uniform gentle flow of cool spices, splashes of freesia, mimosa and iris interlaced with oakmoss and musk. It stays close to skin as if designed to be a to be a secret known only by the wearer.

The bottle deserves a separate mention, it's heavy crystal with exactly 57 facets, the same number you have in the classic diamond cut, the perfect number to capture light inside the crystal and to make it pulse within. 

You can actually spin the bottle (the base has been cut in a special way) to admire the play of light inside the moonstone coloured tincture.
