Merina, referencing the lushness of Spanish wool, opens with a blissful puff of almond that shapeshifts between floral heliotrope and creamy vanilla. Fennel adds structure to the softness with its delicate aniseed character. Almond and fennel continue to shimmer against each other as heady jasmine and powdery iris gently pulse. The whole effect is intimate and refined, leaving a skin-close trail that wraps you like a veil.

The open salvo of Rosa umami is UMAMI in all-caps: salty, rich, tangy and borderline bitter. Before it goes full fermentation freak-out, this extrait changes course and settles into a bouquet of roses: rose de mai, Bulgarian, white rose, rugosa. Luxury darkness.

Rest in the blissful shade of an orchard in the humming city of Pompeii: the year is 195 BC. Inhale the sweet aroma of ripe figs and the local pomegranate leaves heated by the sun; these entine spicy incense being smoked in the nearby temple. So anciently refreshing!

204 perfumer Domitille Michalon says, “I imagined a sunny fragrance bursting with sweet figs over creamy sandalwood; a nap in the shade when the sun is beating down. I added a touch of green, a touch of nature, like a crunchy edamame bean.”

A sweet, ambery perfume with many shades of sweet packed into a single formula: heliotrope, vanilla, caramel, toffee and benzoin, all interlinked with a soft sandalwood theme.
