On a hot, dry terrain, through the cracks of rocks, enigmatic flowers flourish. Every now and then, great beauty requires great contrasts. The fragrance opens with a vibrant burst of orange (South Africa) and zesty ginger (Nigeria), followed by a complex floral heart of rich rose (Morocco), powdery iris (Ivory Coast) reminiscent of sand swirling below the flowers, and bright chamomile (Egypt). It finishes with a narcotic base of sensual sandalwood (Somalia) and creamy vanilla (Madagascar).

Lü Bu is a formidable Chinese warlord, tiger-fierce but volatile. At the end of his last battle he is a folded shadow. The once most-feared man of the Empire, son of iron and fire, is devoured by his own legend. This olfactory scar of a perfume opens with vivid, tannic clove, like the acridity of blood on a still-warm blade. On a forgotten altar smoulders the benzoin beauty of papier d'Arménie, while iris, noble and powdery, whispers the hero's solitude. More than glory and power, Lü Bu speaks of sacrifice and memory. Loyal to all those who wear their shadows with pride.

A tribute to Vietnam's cultural symbol of livelihood — the white jasmine rice. Found at nearly every Vietnamese meal, the humble bowl of rice has nurtured generations. This eau de parfum presents a subtly sweet aroma, harmonizing gentle softness with the rice nuttiness. Pandan, with its vanilla and hazelnut profile, brings out a snuggly facet of powdery/clean orris. White musk and tonka beans make everything huggable.

September 1757, Casino Venier, Venice

A powdery floral fragrance based on authentic 18th century cosmetic formulas.

A coquettish floral capturing the decadence of 18th century Venice, its rococo interiors and clandestine affairs: a powdery blend of black violet, blush rose, and chamomile nestled on an impossibly soft base of dusty iris and subtle, animalic amber.

Originally created at the Jermyn Street shop by Mr John Floris in the early 1800s. Devoted wearers of the fragrance have included Florence Nightingale, and Lord Admiral Nelson is reported to have bought Floris White Rose for his mistress, Lady Hamilton.

White Rose is a classic take on a classic theme. This perfume is quite stately in its introvert elegance. Carnations meet a bouquet of other flowers and in the powdery mist of orris it's not quite possible to tell the fresh roses from spicy carnations.

Narcotics flowers, psychotropic herbs and haunted spices are the main ingredients of Kashnoir, the eleventh fragrance of Laboratorio Olfattivo, created after embarking on a long journey in search of the most forbidden and mysterious East. More than a fragrance, Kashnoir is a softly lethal drug, that obscures reason and stuns the senses. A powerful scent, which leads to oblivion, almost dangerous to the wearer.

Perfumer: Sven Pritzkoleit

Australian spring arrives, bearing dazzling frocks of yellow blossoms to dress the bare golden wattle trees. Clouds of sweet honeyed fragrance, caught upon the breeze, carry an invitation inland, where a flock of cockatiels happily take up the celebration. Emerging from dusty nests, the birds are ready to preen and prance. On a wobbly stage of branches, vivid crests bop to the rhythm of their joyous songs. After a final encore, the flock takes flight. Alighting in a nearby field they share a delightful brunch, buzzing with the thrill of their stunning recital.

Zoologist Cockatiel exudes joy. A sunny burst of yellow acacia offers a friendly welcome. Dots of raspberry and tart rhubarb suggest a hint of mischief, like a pair of rosy cheeks beneath a golden plume. Finally, soft notes of musk and vanilla enfold the vibrant Cockatiel, like downy feathers cushioning the brashness of this cheeky bird.

Zoologist Cockatiel was formerly known as “Powder and Dust”, a perfume created by Sven Pritzkoleit, published under his own brand, SP Parfums. The creative director of the scent was Yana Lysenko. This perfume won the 2019 Arts and Olfaction Awards under the Artisan category. In 2020, Sven closed his perfume business and sold the formula of Powder and Dust to Zoologist to continue its legacy.

About Bois Farine by L'Artisan Parfumeur

What does L'Artisan Parfumeur Bois Farine smell like?
Bois Farine has a dry, nutty and powdery character, recalling uncooked pastry dough, toasted almonds and warm wood. Its creamy, softly resinous quality gives this floral woody musk an unusual balance of comfort and restraint.
How does White Rice compare with L'Artisan Parfumeur Bois Farine?
White Rice shares Bois Farine’s powdery orris and cedarwood character but introduces a delicate rice note. The result feels cleaner, quieter and slightly grainier, without the jasmine, musk and resinous benzoin found in Bois Farine.
How does Venice Rococo compare with L'Artisan Parfumeur Bois Farine?
Venice Rococo also combines orris, jasmine and powdery notes, but adds aldehydes, rose and violet. It is a bolder, more textured floral option, while Bois Farine remains woodier, creamier and more softly musky.
How does Ambre Gris compare with L'Artisan Parfumeur Bois Farine?
Ambre Gris shares powdery benzoin with Bois Farine, then amplifies the warmth through amber, ambergris, incense and vanilla. It feels richer, sweeter and more resinous, with less emphasis on floral woods and musk.
