‘All the soarings of my mind begin in my blood’
Rainer Maria Rilke
***
A perfumed celebration of saints and superstitions, centred around a fierce fenugreek absolute note lavished with singed pyrazines, sacrificial myrrh and mournful molten honey poured over everything like amber rain. Meadow blooms, sticky dark resins, pungent balms and ashen clouds of iris swirl like dramatic weather.
All about this fragrance
Vibe check
Osang suits an evening with a deliberate, unhurried tempo: a wool coat still carrying the chill of the street, then the close warmth of conversation indoors. Its singed fenugreek and dark honey bring a savory, smoky tension rather than reassuring sweetness.
How to wear
Cool autumn and winter weather is a natural setting for this resinous extrait. Start with one light spray on the torso or a wrist, allowing the honey, balsams and animalic facets room to settle before adding more. In warm rooms, apply sparingly to keep the dense sweetness from dominating.
Who it’s for
For those drawn to savory sweetness, smoky resins and animalic depth rather than polished freshness. Osang will appeal to wearers who enjoy incense and balsamic woods but want the sharper, less familiar character of fenugreek at the center.

2017

Collaborators
Stefania Squeglia conceived Osang’s concept and creative design, shaping its Neapolitan imagery of blood, devotion and belonging. Alessandro Reggioli interpreted the saint’s hat in the sculptural bottle cap, extending the religious symbolism into the presentation.
Mendittorosa’s story
Mendittorosa treats fragrance and its presentation as a single artistic work, bringing perfumers together with Italian artists and artisans. Its independent approach begins with lived experiences, emotions and philosophical ideas rather than trends, choosing collaborators for their ability to translate those ideas into scent.
Osang’s concept
Osang is a fragrant expression of attachment to Naples and its coexistence of sacred and profane. Its name means “blood” in Neapolitan slang, and its central reference is the devotional tradition surrounding the liquefaction of San Gennaro’s preserved blood, regarded by believers as a favorable sign for the city. Honey, myrrh and fierce fenugreek translate that imagery into a composition of sweetness, smoke and dark resins.
Extra info
Osang was a finalist in the Independent category of the 2018 Art and Olfaction Awards. Its presentation includes a sacred hanging ornament and a small handmade red-coral horn inside the bottle. The fragrance ingredients are identified as vegan, but the packaging is not, because it contains real coral.
