Perfumer: Mathieu Nardin
Perris are fascinated by nature’s fragrant treasures and make perfume materials THE story of each of their perfume. So much so that they experiment with the same perfume material in different perfume architectures: eau de parfum and in extait.
How does this work?
The EdP version of Santal du Pacifique smells drier and woodier. The perfumer added more dusty sharp carrot seeds and shifted the focus to the lighter top layer.
The extrait option is creamier (softer) and somehow has a stronger floral presence with an echo of leathery violets or some fantasy black orchids.
All about this fragrance
Vibe check
This is a close-wearing scent for moments of quiet confidence, when you want warmth and polish rather than projection. It suits intimate rooms, soft lighting and unhurried conversation, leaving a smooth woody trail that feels personal, refined and slightly seductive.
How to wear
Best in cool to mild weather, where its creamy woods and violet nuance can unfold without becoming heavy. Apply sparingly, as the extrait has a rounded, lingering presence; one or two sprays are enough to create a soft halo that stays close to the skin and grows warmer over time.
Who it’s for
For those who like sandalwood with a smoother, more modern finish: creamy woods, powdery florals and clean musk rather than smoke or spice. It will appeal to wearers who prefer understated sensuality, tactile textures and a fragrance that feels composed, intimate and unisex.

The nose
Mathieu Nardin is a modern French perfumer known for elegant, material-driven compositions that balance texture, clarity and diffusion. Working with Robertet, he often builds fragrances around a central raw material and lets it unfold through nuanced contrasts rather than heavy ornament. For Santal du Pacifique Extrait, Nardin shapes sandalwood into a softer, creamier register, adding floral and powdery facets that make the material feel more tactile and intimate. The result reflects his skill at turning a classic note into something refined, contemporary and quietly sensual.
Collaborators
Gian Luca Perris, the brand’s founder and creative director, helped shape the concept and brief, guiding the fragrance within Perris Monte Carlo’s material-focused Black Collection and its emphasis on natural raw ingredients.
Perris Monte Carlo’s story
Perris Monte Carlo builds its identity around craftsmanship, travel and the expressive power of raw materials. The house treats perfume as a study of ingredients first, combining traditional perfumery knowledge with a modern, restrained style that values quality, clarity and sensory depth over ornament.
Santal du Pacifique Extrait’s concept
Released in 2016, Santal du Pacifique Extrait is a more concentrated interpretation of the original Eau de Parfum. The extrait shifts the sandalwood into a creamier, more floral register, highlighting the brand’s interest in exploring one material through different perfume architectures and in showcasing Australian sandalwood as a precious alternative in a time of limited Mysore supply.
Extra info
Santal du Pacifique Extrait belongs to Perris Monte Carlo’s Black Collection, a line devoted to classic perfume materials. The extrait version was created to show how the same core idea can read differently from the Eau de Parfum, with a softer, more floral emphasis.
